Excitedly sharing our first live interview on Mornings@ANC. We talked about Terra Madre, the Slow Food Movement, People 4 Soil, our work at Kai Farms, the connection between gastronomy and ecology, and the choices we make every day to Love the Earth and Defend our Future.




With today's fast-paced life, almost everything, even eating, has become more of an obligation rather than a pleasurable activity.

In response to the growing demands of the world, Slow Food began 30 years ago in Italy as an alternative to fast food, which changed the way of eating.


The movement aims to prevent the disappearance of local food cultures and traditions, counteract the rise of fast life and promote interest in food choices, its sources and ways to prepare it.

Organic farming advocate Karla Delgado said the movement advocates for fresh, organic and chemical-free food and traditional ways of preparing food.

"It promotes eating not in a rushed way and that eating is something to be savored," Delgado said.

Amena Bal, also an organic farming advocates, said working with nature and food is something sacred, which is why finding harmony and balance in food is important.

"Food production really begins with our connection to the land and to the elements," she said.

The movement urges the public to support sustainable farming and artisanal producers since it cultivates healthy soil for food sources.

Slow Food also believes food is tied to many other aspects of life, including health, culture, agriculture and the environment.

The advocates noted that through food choices, consumers can greatly influence food producers collectively.

On December 10, Slow Food will celebrate Terra Madre Day, an annual celebration that promotes diverse food traditions and healthier choices that are close to nature.
